Acura NSX-T, 2001

 Acura NSX-T, 2001

Evolved from a rich racing heritage, the Acura NSX combines world-class performance and styling with exceptional driveability and refinement. The 2001 NSX is the benchmark for Acura technology having established itself as a leader in the exotic supercar segment over the past 10 years.

The 2001 NSX offers two mid-ship mounted distinct powertrains. First is a lightweight, all-aluminum 3.2-liter, DOHC, 24-valve, 90-degree V-6 engine yielding 290 horsepower and 224 lbs-ft of torque, coupled to a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission. When equipped with the optional 4-speed automatic transmission with Formula One-inspired sequential SportShift, the NSX powerplant is a 3.0-liter V-6 engine that generates 252 horsepower and 210 lbs-ft of torque.

Both NSX engines are equipped with Acura's patented Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system, an ingenious Variable Volume Induction System, direct ignition and the computerized PGM-FI fuel injection system pioneered in Formula One racing.

Every detail on the NSX has been engineered to produce the utmost in performance. The highly rigid NSX chassis features all-aluminum construction for low overall weight and high rigidity. The four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension also features aluminum-alloy control arms and hub carriers to minimize unsprung weight for optimum handling. Aluminum subframes for the front and rear suspension further reduce suspension weight. The braking system features large-diameter, ventilated four-wheel discs and an advanced four-channel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The sophisticated Traction Control System (TCS) has been designed to help limit wheel-spin and enhance control.

The interior of the NSX evokes the image of the cockpit of a jet fighter, providing ample visibility, easy-to-read instrument gauges and snug, leather seats. As with all Acura models, the NSX comes with a long list of standard equipment and comfort and convenience features including an automatic climate control system, an Acura/BoseĆ° Music System, power windows and door locks, cruise control and an electronic immobilizer system.

The 2001 NSX, like all Acura vehicles, is covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing.

Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Villa DEste, 1946

Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Villa DEste, 1946

The Alfa Romeo 6C name was used on road, race and sports cars made between 1925-1954 by Alfa Romeo. 6C refers to a straight 6 engine. Bodies to these cars were made by coachbuilders such as James Young, Zagato, Touring, Castagna, and Pininfarina. Starting from 1933 there was also a 6C version with a factory Alfa body, built in Portello.

The Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 (2309 cc) was designed by Vittorio Jano as a cheaper alternative to the Alfa Romeo 8C.

Aston Martin DB4 GT,1959

Aston Martin DB4 GT,1959

The Aston Martin DB4 GT made its premiere at the 1959 London Motor Show. The car was designed by Aston Martin and used the Superleggera body frame system - aluminium panels on tubular support frames - produced by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. Although similar to the Aston Martin DB4, the differences added up to a very different motor car.

Five inches were chopped off the original Aston Martin DB4 wheelbase, making the GT easier to handle on a race track and reducing the overall weight; the engine was equipped with new twin-plug head and 45 DCO Webers, which increase power output to an impressive 302 bhp. The Aston Martin DB4 GT was the first of many Aston Martin's to use the cowled headlights.

Aston Martin DB4, 1958

 Aston Martin DB4, 1958

Work on the Aston Martin DB4 started in 1956, at the same time as the Aston Martin DB Mark III. The key people involved in the development of the Aston Martin DB4 were general manager John Wyer, chassis designer Harold Beach, and engine designer Tadek Marek. Every major component in the Aston Martin DB4 was new. The four-seater body was design by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, using their 'Superleggera' system by which alloy panels are fixed to a tubular frame built onto the very strong platform chassis.

The entirely new car was shown at the London Motor show in 1958, sharing a stand with the DB Mark III which was to continue in production for almost a year. The Aston Martin DB4 was the first production car to capable of 0-100-0 mph in under 30 sec. claiming to reach the 100 mph mark in 21 seconds. A very impressive car that put Aston Martin back in competition with other Mediterranean sports car manufacturers.
Tadek Marek's new 3.7 litre, six-cylinder twin overhead camshaft, all alloy engine first ran in 1956 and was raced in the Aston Martin DBR2 in 1957.

A four-seater convertible was announced at the London Motor Show in 1961.
By the time that the Aston Martin DB4 ended it's production run, there were five distinct series (i.e. Aston Martin DB4 GT and Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato).
